Tom Holland has revealed the one thing that was getting in the way of his career.
Speaking to USA Today, the Spider-Man actor said that alcohol once had a detrimental effect on his professional life.
“Being an actor and living your life on the big stage can be really stressful,” said Holland, who has decided to quit drinking in 2022.
Holland said, “I think alcohol, for me personally, really exacerbated that problem. And, since getting rid of the alcohol and feeling like myself and waking up every day with a clear mind and refreshed to start the day, I feel a lot more confident in myself and who I am as a person.”
“Drinking was something that was eventually getting in the way of my professional life,” he said.
Tom Holland also said that his professional life has “blossomed up” in recent years. “I’ve been very fortunate over the last four years that my career has evolved in a really beautiful way, and I really love what’s happening and what I want to do in the future. And I don’t know how much of it would have been successful if I was still drinking,” he said.
On the professional front, Holland is set to return as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will release on July 31, 2026.
