A British tourist has died after a “freak wave” hit rocks during a morning swim in Tenerife.
Rose Buck, 56, was on holiday with her family in Costa Adeje, Tenerife when she tragically died.

Her 39-year-old daughter Chantelle Buck-Forest said her mother was a “strong swimmer” and went to the beach when she learned the pool was closed.
Chantel said Rose was enjoying a swim on Wednesday, Feb. 25, in the blue lagoon, which is usually calm.
Tragically, a small earthquake struck the island and created a “strange wave.”
Chantelle said the wave “knocked her mother onto the rocks”, knocking Rose unconscious and breaking her C2 vertebra, before someone on the beach noticed and alerted lifeguards.

Rose was reportedly underwater for five minutes before being pulled from the water.
Bystanders tried to revive him before he was taken to the hospital.
Sadly, doctors decided to take him off his ventilator on March 6, saying there was too much brain damage for him to recover.
Rose, who was a postal worker, died in hospital on Sunday March 8.
On February 25, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck Tenerife, which Chantelle believes may have caused the ‘weird wave’.
Chantelle, who lives in Bradford, West Yorkshire, said: “I am completely devastated, I couldn’t stop crying.
“It’s terrifying. I’m walking around like I’ve been shot in the chest.”
