The East Coast meets the Midwest-j crew has collaborated with iconic denim brand Lee on a capsule collection that blends J.Crew’s prep heritage with Lee’s timeless Americana.
Our editor took a closer look at the collection. Combining our latest style fixations (ahem, Caroline Bessette Kennedy) and our inner cowgirl, we styled five incredibly chic spring outfits. Pulled from both the men’s and women’s racks, we walked out of the fitting room, reminded of how much we underestimated J.Crew Men’s Is. Think oversized oxford shirts, sturdy denim jackets and the perfect pair of baggy jeans. And that’s exactly what we found in lee x j.crew collection.
Of course, denim was a theme everywhere. vintage straight leg One was extraordinary. denim skirt I long for warm weather, and Men’s Storm Rider Denim Jacket J.Crew Men’s has reopened as a store.

Western Shirt + Vintage Straight Jean
Pulled from the men’s rack, I’m wearing a Western Shirt in Daffodil Oxfords and a Storm Rider denim jacket. (There is also a women’s version that costs less.) Lately, I’ve been loving the double-collar look, so I decided to pop the oxford shirt collar over the corduroy accents of the jacket. Once I did that, I really leaned towards the western look. Wearing old straight jeans (heads up, you may want to size up), I tucked in oversized button-downs and tied them with a woven leather belt. Continuing the cowgirl-inspired ‘fit, I finished it off with a pair of cowprint ballet flats. It’s not a look I’m usually gravitated toward, but when I walked out of the fitting room, I was greeted with compliments.

head to toe white denim
“Tip: Never just look at the women’s section, especially when it comes to collabs (and anything denim-related!). I actually think I prefer the menswear in this particular collaboration, and these white jeans and matching trucker jacket quickly became my favorite pieces. These can be worn together, but they can also be paired with anything, from a simple tee or tank with jeans to jeans White poplin skirt with jacket.” – Eliza Huber, Associate Editorial Director

Men’s Denim Jacket + Denim Skirt
“I’ve been looking for a denim pencil skirt for over six months now, inspired by versions of Tom Ford’s Gucci era and which I saw at Khaite’s S/S 26 show, so I was excited to find this classic option in J.Crew’s LE collab. I love the timeless wash and the way it matches the denim jackets of the collection. I tried the men’s jacket, and I think the combo of a more feminine skirt and an oversized topper, especially with its plaid interior, struck a good balance.” – huber

cbk-inspired
“When I was trying out this look, my friend who works with J.Crew said she’s got Caroline Bessette Kennedy’s look, so this will tell you everything you need to know. A great black button-down shirt and timeless jeans will always be a good idea. For this denim style, my only suggestion would be to size up at least one size. This is my normal size, but I wish I had tried to go up a size or two to get a more comfortable fit.” – huber

Oversize Button-Down + Rib Tank Top
This blue and white striped oxford shirt is another great find from J.Crew Men’s. I’m no stranger to browsing men’s racks. This is where I find some of my most comfortable sweaters, oversized button-downs and The best baggy jeans. They make great layering pieces and wardrobe basics.
As this effort proves, men’s repetition reigns supreme in the collection. I paired the western shirt with a fitted rib tank top and vintage straight jeans. I agree with Eliza’s tip about size. I would recommend going up a size or two to get the desired slim-straight silhouette. Off the scene, I slipped on suede driving loafers to complete the look. Their soft structure was based on casual wear.
