As Deputy Beauty Editor at Who What Wear UK, I write lots of guides on the best beauty products. Not only that, but as a Fake tan lover, I am constantly testing, trying and typifying the best tanning drops, tanning serums, bronzers and more. No matter what month it is, I’ve made it my mission all year long to look like I just stepped off a plane.
Although there are so many good options on the market, it would take me writing an entire article on one self-tan product. Great. Enter Dior Solar Self-Tanning Drops.
It’s no secret that Dior is one of the most luxurious beauty brands, so when I heard that tanning drops were about to launch, I knew they’d look cute, but whether the formula would match the aesthetic is a completely different story. When a sample arrived on my desk, I tried not to be seduced by the shimmering bottle and gold pipet-style applicator, and instead, told myself I’d put the tanning drops through their paces before deciding whether they deserved a spot in one of my many tanning roundups.
Two days later, my glow was so good that I cleared my calendar to type this in-depth review and share the easiest (and best) way to make everyone think you just arrived on the French Riviera. I’m very good at predicting the next big thing in beauty, and I can almost guarantee that the most stylish people will be using this exact product all summer long.
But why, I hear you asking. First of all, how good do they look? I know, I know, formula is more important, but let’s face it, who doesn’t want their bathroom cabinet full of pretty things? Secondly, they do not make your skin feel overly dehydrated. While DHA (the ingredient that actually makes your skin tan) is usually quite dry, these drops are packed with Hyaluronic acid helps counteract dryness and leaves your skin silky soft.
The brand recommends applying the product directly to the skin before your moisturizer; However, I actually mix the two products to get the brightest results. The cool thing is that you can basically use these drops to customize your glow.
As you can see, the formula is infused with golden pearl pigments, which add a hint of shine that makes your complexion look so radiant. The golden undertones also ensure a natural-looking tan that lasts for a few days before needing to be reapplied. If you don’t like any glitter on your skin, you’ve been warned, as these are definitely on the more iridescent side, but I’m personally a big fan.
Overall, they look attractive, are easy to use and actually work. Yep, Dior hit it out of the park with this one. Be prepared to see this product all over social media.
