Much like how I felt about flip-flops, I was skeptical of capris for years—until I decided to try out a pair one day last spring. Very quickly, they became one of my most worn items. I found myself reaching for them for errands and long walks when I wanted something that looked good but had stretch and mobility. They’re comfortable and easy and somehow still feel put together.

If you’re shopping for a pair for the first time, here’s what I’ve found: If you’re short, tight capris to just below the knees look best. If you’re tall, look for a pair that flares slightly and hits lower at the calf.
