Former Prince Andrew is still considered an important part of the royal family, even though senior royals including King Charles and Prince William are keeping their distance from him.
The Emperor not only stripped Andrew of his titles and honors and asked him to leave the Royal Lodge, but also made it clear that legal matters involving him should continue without interference.
However, a royal source said the situation behind the scenes is more personal as Princess Anne has been in contact with Andrew and has even checked in on him during the difficult time.
The source also claimed the Princess Royal has even considered offering the disgraced former royal a place to live at her Gatcombe Park estate.
“There is an understanding between Andrew’s siblings that despite what has happened publicly, their relationship with Andrew is not over,” the source said.
He further added, “She is still part of the family, and there is a certain responsibility that comes with it, even if it is handled quietly and without any public display.
“It’s less about defending him or forgiving past decisions, and more about accepting that, at the end of the day, he’s their brother – and that relationship is something they can’t completely turn their back on, no matter how complicated the situation becomes.”
