Although ambient smart lighting strips are nothing new these days, it must be said that manufacturers are still finding some pretty creative ways to stand out from the sea of similar hardware. Take Govi for example, which recently announced the launch of the Govi TV Backlight 3 – with that in mind, Govi promises a more immersive user experience with the new model, but what do you actually get?
According to Govi, the TV Backlight 3 comes with the industry’s first “hybrid glass-plastic dual-camera lens” to power the category-leading 4-million-pixel resolution. Simply put, it essentially adjusts its color and light output to intelligently match the content displayed on your TV, acting as a kind of “extension” when watching your favorite shows and movies.
That said, the new system comes with a 100% increase in resolving power over its predecessor and a 30% increase in overall image clarity, at least compared to the standard 2MP lens. Govi says this is achieved by combining the high light transmittance of glass with the precise refraction of the plastic used in the model.
Inside there’s an extended red-spectrum IR filter that enhances warm-tone sensitivity, as well as a high signal-to-noise 1080p image sensor that runs at 30fps. This allows the system to capture clean shadows with low noise and strong contrast; TV Backlight 3 also divides the screen into 24 independent zones, and Govi says it uses AI-based content filters to instantly match on-screen content.

As far as lighting goes, you’re getting high-density 4-in-1 RGBWIC LEDs with a dedicated white channel, with up to 60 LEDs per meter. This setup increases the brightness by about 20% compared to the previous generation. The TV Backlight 3 is also designed to work with smart home platforms, including Mate Standard, Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings.
Govi TV Backlight 3 is now available on Amazon and Govi’s official website, the 55″-65″ TV version is priced at $109.99; Meanwhile, the larger 75″-85″ TV version comes in at $139.99. You can see it below.
