{"id":100042,"date":"2026-04-26T22:35:35","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T22:35:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/christiancorner.us\/index.php\/2026\/04\/26\/riverside-county-sheriff-says-jurupa-valley-man-died-in-custody\/"},"modified":"2026-04-26T22:36:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T22:36:48","slug":"riverside-county-sheriff-says-jurupa-valley-man-died-in-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christiancorner.us\/index.php\/2026\/04\/26\/riverside-county-sheriff-says-jurupa-valley-man-died-in-custody\/","title":{"rendered":"Riverside County Sheriff says Jurupa Valley man died in custody"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div data-element=\"story-body\" data-subscriber-content=\"\">\n<p>A 38-year-old Jurupa Valley man died Saturday after suffering a medical emergency while in custody, according to the Riverside County Sheriff&#8217;s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Waterman was arrested by the Jurupa Valley Police Department Thursday evening and was being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center, the sheriff&#8217;s office said. <\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Waterman began to experience a medical emergency inside the prison&#8217;s holding cell, the agency said, and detention staff and prison medical personnel provided assistance.<\/p>\n<p>A day later, on April 25, his condition continued to deteriorate and he was pronounced dead at the hospital, the sheriff&#8217;s office said.<\/p>\n<p>The agency did not say what medical emergency he suffered or what led to his arrest. The Riverside County Sheriff&#8217;s Corrections Central Bureau of Investigation and the county coroner are investigating, but the sheriff&#8217;s office said there was no indication of foul play.<\/p>\n<p>Sergeant Robert Martinez, a public information officer for the sheriff&#8217;s office, declined to provide additional information about Waterman&#8217;s death or why he was in custody. <\/p>\n<p>This is the second death in the department&#8217;s custody this month. On April 3, the Sheriff&#8217;s Office announced the in-custody death of a Las Vegas resident, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.riversidesheriff.org\/m\/newsflash\/home\/detail\/7036\">maurice landon williamson<\/a>35, who was shifted to the hospital due to existing illness.
