The 79-year-old actress admitted that playing the neurotic housewife in the 1996 comedy classic, which ended up costing the late Diane Keaton, “wasn’t my cup of tea.”<\/p>\n
he told parade, <\/i>“I liked all those actors. But I turned it down,” adding, “I’ve always had a problem with older women who either want to go on dates or, like, you know, want to have more sex with their husbands.”<\/p>\n
Sally noted, “I feel like women have a lot more to say, so that was never my thing.”<\/p>\n
She didn’t like participating in the big musical moment with friends Annie, Brenda (Bette Midler) and Alice (Goldie Hawn) at the end of the film.<\/p>\n
Sally said, “I couldn’t do that role because I don’t sing, and they all sing at the end.”<\/p>\n
She acknowledged that Keaton was perfect for the role, saying, “I would never have been that good. I mean, it was perfect for Keaton \u2013 not for me.”<\/p>\n
The film tells the story of three college friends who reunite after the death of a classmate and realize that they have all been abandoned for younger women. Their heartbreak turns into a plan to take back control and rebuild their lives on their own terms.<\/p>\n
Following Diane’s death at the age of 79 in October, Bette, 80, recalled her fondest memories with her, including how the three of them were “crying with laughter” every day on the set.<\/p>\n

“I think it was the most fun I ever had because between those two girls (Keaton and costar Goldie Hawn), I was on the floor every day. I was crying with laughter,” Sally Field recalled, before concluding, “We had a great time.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
