The royal couple, who were received by Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump at the start of their four-day state visit, exchanged greetings, but an expert claimed the king showed signs of agitation and restlessness.<\/p>\n
talking with mirror<\/i>Body language expert Bruce Durham suggested that the monarch may have been influenced by recent security concerns in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n
“What’s really interesting here is that there is a divergence in King Charles’s behaviour. King Charles is ingrained, conditioned and grew up in formal displays of royal behaviour. Protocol, etiquette \u2013 call it what you want. It has been King Charles’s whole life how to behave, how to act, when to speak and when to be silent.<\/p>\n
“What we’re seeing here is that Charles, on multiple occasions, is showing signs of not being fully focused on the job. Immediately after he arrives, you see what we call the tortoise effect. Now, Charles has been to thousands of events like this. He knows what to do. He knows where to stand. He may have been briefed by his staff. Yet when Camilla arrives to join Donald Trump and welcome him, Charles keeps his head down. Does it.<\/p>\n
Bruce continued: “It’s the tortoise effect. It’s what we do when we have fear, doubt or lack of confidence. There’s no reason for Charles to keep his head down. He’s been involved in this engagement many times before.<\/p>\n
“What it does is the activation of what we call the sympathetic nervous system \u2013 the amygdala, firing the fight-or-flight response. At that particular moment, Charles is physically present, but his mind is absent elsewhere.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
