A woman aboard a Carnival cruise ship off the coast of Southern California died Monday when authorities say she fell from the balcony of her room and landed on the deck below. <\/p>\n

The woman, who has not been identified, was traveling with her family members, who alerted the crew to the incident, Carnival Cruise Line spokeswoman Julie Leonardi said in a statement. Leonardi did not immediately respond to questions about the cruise’s itinerary, but said the woman’s family was able to leave the ship and return home. <\/p>\n
