in an interview with The New York Times Magazine, <\/i>Swift looked back on the journey of writing the emotional track.<\/p>\n
Recalling being in a sad state after her Speak Now tour when she wrote All’s Well, Swift said, “It went on for over 10 minutes, and it wasn’t cohesive, and it wasn’t really that structured, but afterward it felt like, I think my mom or someone else went to the sound guy and said, ‘By chance did you record any of that?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, I did’,” adding that she would have walked away from it. <\/p>\n
Swift said, “There are some really angry, edgy parts that I felt like making it a little more palatable because I already felt like, like, presenting that song as elaborately as it was.”<\/p>\n
However, Swift said she made a “mistake” while talking about the track’s journey which led to fans demanding a 10-minute version of the original 2012 track. “I was going back through the diaries and finding little pieces of it, and I didn’t have that old thing anymore.”<\/p>\n
Swift said, “So, I was looking through the safes trying to find the CD, but I had to go back and piece the lyrics and the material together.”<\/p>\n
Adding, “But that was the most extensive restoration process ever done on a song. I don’t think I’ll ever experience anything like that again.”<\/p>\n
