\nLibrePods, which lets users enjoy a feature-rich experience with Apple’s AirPods on their Android devices, has been available to users since last year. However, if you install the app on your device, there were two problems. Previously, LibrePods had to be downloaded from GitHub and then sideloaded, which could raise security concerns. Second, the app required root, which would have automatically discouraged a lot of users.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

If you have a Pixel device with the Android 16 QPR3 update already installed or running Android 17 beta 3 or later, you don’t need to worry. Along with these, Oppo has already patched the bugs as part of its Android 16 update. Therefore, OnePlus and Oppo devices running ColorOS 16 will support LibrePods without root.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\nHowever, if you have another device, you may be out of luck, at least until the manufacturer upgrades it to Android 17. For example, owners of Samsung phones and tablets will have to wait until One UI 9 is available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While Google has resolved the issue, the developer is also making access to the app easier. Apart from being available on GitHub, the app can now also be easily downloaded from Google Play Store. Apart from the feeling of ease, the fact that it is available on the Play Store \u2013 and is constantly scanned for threats or viruses by Google’s Play Protect program \u2013 should instill more confidence in users. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
