As I continue to study and lay the groundwork for a future book on Ecclesiastes, I have started a blog on Substack where I will post bits and pieces of early thinking that I pray will someday mature into a book. The blog is called “Ecclesiastes’ Workshop” (https://ecclesiastesworkshop.com). You can subscribe to receive posts by email or view them on Substack. Either way, I hope you find some value in these articles, as I “think out loud” about Ecclesiastes and its importance to us today. (These creations will not be available anywhere except Substack.)

I continue to make progress on the pages of walking in christ. I’m working hard to write the book by the end of the year, but it will take several weeks after the writing is complete to get it into sales channels on Amazon and elsewhere. I wanted to have the printed book ready for you before January 1, but that won’t be possible. God willing the daily emails will start from January 1st and if not earlier you can get the hard copies by March.

Strange that the advent of AI tools for writers has slowed down the writing of this particular book. Some hobbyists think that these tools reduce the time it takes to write, but those who write professionally know better. When used ethically, these tools are useful only when the writer has done the work he should be doing alone. Previously, the first step constituted the entire writing process, but now it simply gets a writer to the point where he or she can use AI tools to improve their finished product. Although this approach ultimately makes for better writing, it also increases the time required for the writer to complete his or her work. What was considered “good enough” ten years ago is no longer good enough. He merely brings one author to the starting point of the second stage. And to be honest, I’m very tempted – when I’m tired – to skip that second step and put my feet to rest!

So, I’m as grateful for new tools as any writer can be – I can assign you better work now than I could in the past. But AI hasn’t made my workflow faster; This has slowed it down considerably.

Physically, things are pretty stable for me right now. Most days, the physical condition I work in isn’t as good as I’d like, but it’s stable, and for that I’m grateful. I had a long conversation with my primary care physician yesterday and I thank him for the help he has provided me over a long time. We will make some small changes, but we agreed that, unless new issues arise, our goal is to maintain the current status quo and slow down the degradation process as much as possible. Of course, ultimately all this will be decided by the Lord, and I am content with whatever He deems best. Although I can still write, I am determined to do so. I believe the most exciting projects are ahead of me, if it is the Lord’s will to write those books.

Finally, thank you for supporting in so many ways the work the Lord has allowed me to engage in. This is His work, and I hope it will add to His glory. But you are the means He provides to make that work possible.
