A shocking tourist bus crash in Mexico has left at least 11 people dead and dozens injured after the vehicle veered off the road. <\/p>\n

The bus was traveling through the state of Jalisco at the time of the tragic accident. <\/p>\n

Authorities say the bus left the highway and overturned near the town of Amatlan de Canas. <\/p>\n

At least 11 people lost their lives while 31 others were injured in the horrific accident that took place on Friday. <\/p>\n

According to reports, six victims died at the accident site. magazine. <\/a><\/p>\n

The injured passengers \u2013 some of whom were in critical condition \u2013 have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. <\/p>\n

According to officials, the passengers were headed to a recreation center in Nayarit. <\/p>\n

Emergency crews from Nayarit and Jalisco arrived at the fatal scene. <\/p>\n

The road was closed for traffic as soon as the rescue operations began. <\/p>\n

Investigation into the cause of the accident has been started. <\/p>\n

Initial reports suggest that speeding, poor road conditions and driver fatigue were possible factors.<\/p>\n

In photos shared by the Nayarit government, the bus can be seen lying on its side and covered in mud. <\/p>\n

Governor Pablo Lemus confirmed that the state would cover the medical and funeral costs of the victims. <\/p>\n
