Any persons in the area of \u200b\u200bthe pier are requested to evacuate,&#8221; the statement said. &#8220;Catalina (Avenue) is closed between Torrance (Boulevard) and Beryl (Street). Please avoid the pier area until further notice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Times has contacted the Redondo Beach Police Department for more information regarding the unfolding situation.
