Meanwhile, some teams are close to play-off qualification, and some are close to elimination. So far, the group stage of this year’s competition has seen some remarkable rivalries, moments of individual brilliance, thrilling final overs and everything that a cricket fan loves to see in a cricket competition.

But, section by section, what are the best moments so far in this Indian Premier League season? Former cricketer, turned cricket expert and commentator Simon Doull has selected some of the top performers in a Cricbuzz video.

Who is the best batsman so far in IPL 2026?

Through a 2.20-minute video, Simon Doull named the best bowler, best batsman, best captain, best match, best six hitter, best ground and many more in IPL 2026 so far. As well as naming the ‘best’ by segment, Dole explains his decisions.

According to Doull, the best batsman so far in IPL 2026 is Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Heinrich Klaasen because of the runs he is scoring.

“The best batsman for me in terms of consistency is Heinrich Klaasen. I think batting at number four, the numbers he has put up on the board and the consistency he has shown for Hyderabad is perfect for me,” Simon Doull said.

The best bowler in IPL 2026, according to Simon Doull

For the best bowler spot, the former cricketer chose Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The 37-year-old fast bowler has been in top form since the start of this year’s tournament and has lived up to his reputation of shaping the ball both ways. Doull even said that Kumar had bowled the best yorker so far in the tournament.

“The best bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, is still swinging it, having turned 37, he absolutely loves what he is doing. (Best yorker bowler) Oh, I have to go to Bhuvi again.” That yorker early against Delhi, one of the best balls to get out a left-handed debutant (Sahil Parakh), was the best ball of the tournament for me,” Doull said of the RCB fast bowler. Said about Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Who is the best captain so far in IPL 2026 season?

The best and perhaps the most interesting part of the video came when Doll was asked to name the best captain in the current Indian Premier League season. Dole took a while before pronouncing the name and said, this is Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer. He also mentioned that the brand of cricket that Punjab Kings has displayed so far is what excites him the most.

“Best captain, oh my god, best captain ever, oh dear Shreyas, I’ll go with Shreyas because I’ve gone with Punjab for the best team, so I’ll go with Shreyas, the best captain ever,” Doull concluded the video by saying.

Shreyas Iyer is the best captain… Agree?

Who is the best bowler?

Simon Doull reveals his best self #IPL2026 @GoogleIndia pic.twitter.com/ujXXMZYHwt

    – Cricbuzz (@cricbuzz) 4 May 2026

With one loss in 9 matches, PBKS still tops the points table with 13 points, while RCB remains at the second position with 12 points from the same number of matches so far.
