It’s dummy unit season<\/h2>\n

Over the past few weeks, rumors about Apple’s first foldable iPhone have mostly focused on a device with a passport-like aspect ratio when closed and a more tablet-like aspect ratio and feel when opened.<\/p>\n

Just a few days ago, reliable leaker Sonny Dixon published a photo of an iPhone Fold dummy unit along with alleged dummy units of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max that recently arrived. macworld<\/em> It was reported that the device will probably be called iPhone Ultra.<\/p>\n

Now, unbox therapy<\/a> has published a 10-minute video showcasing a dummy unit of the iPhone Ultra, providing a clear understanding of the overall form factor of the device and how it might feel in the hand.<\/p>\n

Importantly, the hardware, including (and especially) the hinge mechanism, is clearly not meant to reflect what Apple will ultimately ship. That’s not the point of the video. Instead, it focuses on the physical experience: how the device feels when open and closed, its pocketability, how easy its buttons can be to reach, and details like speaker placement and overall ergonomics.<\/p>\n

Video<\/a> This includes detailed measurements of the dummy unit, which measures 117 mm in height, 84.27 mm in width and 11.02 mm in thickness when closed without the camera bump, which increases to 16.57 mm with it and approximately 5.2 mm when opened.<\/p>\n

It also shows how much the device wobbles when placing the camera down on a table, even when opening and closing.<\/p>\n
