John Prevost, Pope Leo XIV’s older brother, said that he, Leo, and Louis, the eldest of the three, talk every week, but “we keep politics to a limit.”<\/p>\n

CNN’s Erin Burnett on her show “Outfront” <\/em>On May 6, Prevost was asked to talk about how brothers, who have different political views, can still “be brothers and family” and have love.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan you just talk about it, because I think a lot of people want to hear how they too can adopt this in their lives?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

Prevost told him that when the brothers talk, topics may come up about which they disagree, but nothing his brother can say “is going to change my opinion, and nothing I say is going to change his opinion, so why discuss it?”<\/p>\n

“Families fight, but family lasts forever,” Prevost, who said he talks to Leo every day, told him.<\/p>\n

He said the brothers discuss “what we’re up to, what’s new in our lives, what we’re doing next… there’s a brother-sister relationship. And really, what brother doesn’t fight? You know?”<\/p>\n

“It’s fair,” Burnett said.<\/p>\n

The CNN host also asked how Prevost rose above President Donald Trump’s recent accusation that Leo “is putting too many Catholics in danger; (it’s) terrible for foreign policy,” and asked “How has your brother’s life changed because of his role?”, referring to the death threats Prevost has received. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou just keep going,\u201d Prevost said. “There’s something known as trust, and it deepens our trust, because we do what we’re doing because it’s a role we’ve been placed in, and we just go ahead and do it.”<\/p>\n

Prevost told “EWTN News In Depth” in an interview in April that faith “starts at home,” adding that “From time to time our father would take out the Bible and read Bible stories. We would always pray before dinner. Our parents would always, every evening, after dinner, pray the rosary.”<\/p>\n

In April, police in New Lenox, Illinois responded to a “reported bomb threat at a private residence”, which local media said was Prevost’s. After investigation, police determined that the threat was “baseless and no explosive device or hazardous material was present.”<\/p>\n

The fake threat came days after President Donald Trump praised Pope Leo XIV’s eldest brother, Louis, in a Truth Social post in which he described Pope Leo XIV as “weak on crime” and “terrible at foreign policy” because Leo had repeatedly criticized the US-led war in Iran.<\/p>\n

Burnett also noted how Trump has spoken highly of Lewis, who visited the president at the White House last year, calling him “a supporter, a MAGA.”<\/p>\n

“I like (Leo’s) brother Lewis a lot more than I like him, because Lewis is absolutely crazy. He understands it, and Leo doesn’t!” Trump said in April.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
