According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency, Iran’s response included demands to end the war on all fronts, lift US sanctions on the sale of Iranian oil, lift the US blockade on Iranian ports, and freeze assets.<\/p>\n
Iran gave its response to Pakistani mediators on Sunday, according to the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency.<\/p>\n
“The current phase of negotiations focuses exclusively on the cessation of hostilities in the region,” IRNA also said, citing a source familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n\n<\/aside>\nIslamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting also said that the Iranian “response to the US is consistent with our previous position, including readiness to maintain a ceasefire in exchange for the reciprocal opening of the Strait of Hormuz and pursuing talks focused on ending the war in the region.”<\/p>\n
The US cited several reasons for launching the war, which began on February 28, including dismantling Iran’s nuclear program, reducing its missile capabilities and forcing it to end support for regional proxies such as Hezbollah in Lebanon.<\/p>\n
