Like a bird running towards a net, he did not know that it would cost him his life” (Proverbs 7:21-23).

It takes strength of character to deal intelligently and decisively with temptation. If sin is to be avoided, we must be able to interrupt the chain of events described by James: “But everyone is tempted by his own lust and enticed. Then, when lust becomes pregnant, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is fully grown, gives birth to death” (James 1:14,15). When we feel ourselves being pulled towards doing something that we know is wrong, we must have the character to “draw the line” and refuse to cross it. Most people know what it feels like to hate or despise a sin that has already been committed. But wouldn’t it be great to have the same intensity of emotion already So that this act can be stopped?

One reason we succumb to temptation is because we can’t actually say “No!” Say no. To sin. we often Thinking This is what we have done, and so we are disappointed to find ourselves moving forward and doing what we think we have rejected. But often, the real fact is that we never actually said “No!” Not said. The Act we are considering. Decisively rejecting sin is more than a vague feeling that we shouldn’t do it. It is more than the quiet whisper of our conscience. Rejecting sin requires that we gather ourselves, determine the direction of our action, and refuse To perform the act. It certainly includes the feeling that we should not do that thing. But it should be more than a feeling. this is a must have commitment – A firm, decisive, final commitment not to allow oneself to be swept away by the flow of temptation.

There will certainly be times when we realize that we have already allowed temptation to lead to sin in our lives. At such times, godly sorrow requires character. But among all the people who have enough character to feel sorry for what they have done after the fact, very few have the character to feel sorry in advance and “repent” of the deed before it has a chance to happen.

“It is much easier to repent for the sins we have committed than to repent for the sins we wish to commit” (Josh Billings).

Gary Henry – WordPoints.com AreYouaChristian.com

“She seduced him with her charming speech, and seduced him with her flattering lips.
