Ultimately, after a series of ten plagues that brought suffering, destruction, and even death to countless families throughout the land (Exodus 7-12), Pharaoh urged the Israelites to leave.<\/p>\n<p>Moses also told the Israelites to ask the Egyptians for clothing, silver, and gold, and the Lord &#8220;dealt favorably with the Egyptians, and they gave them what they asked.&#8221; So the people of Israel went out of Egypt that night with a lot of goods, even a lot of money\u2014their flocks and herds of cattle.<\/p>\n<p>Certainly this was much more than the Israelites could have imagined. They had been slaves in the land of Egypt for generations, and now Jehovah has made it possible for them to be freed. Furthermore, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob provided them with more than enough for their needs as they began their journey toward the land God had promised them.<\/p>\n<p>One of the key phrases in this passage is that God &#8220;lived conscious.&#8221; Have you ever been monitored? As a parent, I remember times of caring for a sick child during the night, constantly checking to see if our child was okay and moving toward recovery. God is like a parent who always watches over his children.
