The CEO of one of the world’s largest independent financial advisory organizations has warned that Trump’s real problem is quickly becoming the bond market.\n <\/p>\n

The benchmark US 10-year Treasury yield rose to 4.631%, its highest level since February 2025. The 30-year Treasury yield briefly rose to 5.16%, near a three-year high, while the two-year yield climbed above 4.1%.\n <\/p>\n
Brent crude rose above $110 a barrel as the conflict with Iran escalated and military escalation around the Strait of Hormuz led to a sharp revaluation in energy markets. About 20% of global oil supply passes through the corridor.\n <\/p>\n
Nigel Green says markets are beginning to link geopolitics, inflation and bond yields directly to equity risk.\n <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n “Trump has always understood the political power of rising stock markets. Strong equities predict confidence, momentum and economic success.”\n <\/p>\n
\u201cBut the bond markets are beginning to dominate the stock market story.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a real risk now.\u201d<\/p>\n

DeVere’s chief executive noted that investors spent much of the past year assuming that inflation was slowing, rate cuts were coming, and AI-driven growth would continue to lift equities higher regardless of the macro backdrop.\n <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n “That confidence is now crumbling. Oil prices are rising sharply again, and inflation expectations are rising.”\n <\/p>\n
\u201cBond investors are demanding more compensation for holding long-term government debt.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cMarkets are beginning to set prices in a structurally hyperinflationary world.\u201d\n <\/p>\n
\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
<\/p>\n \u201cFor years investors had little choice in stocks as sovereign yields were artificially suppressed and cash generated from almost nothing.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cThat environment supported excessive valuations in technology and development assets.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cInvestors can now earn more than 5% in long-term treasuries with less risk than many sectors of the stock market, which are currently priced to perfection.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cThis leads to changes in asset allocation globally.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
He warned that the AI \u200b\u200band tech rally masked growing weakness beneath broader markets.\n <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n \u201cA relatively small number of mega-cap companies have lifted US equities higher while the breadth of the underlying market has weakened.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cHigh bond yields expose that vulnerability very quickly because expensive growth stocks rely heavily on cheap capital and assumptions about future earnings.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cThe higher the yields get, the more difficult it becomes to maintain those valuations.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n \u201cIf Trump moves aggressively, the market fears a deep oil shock that would push inflation and bond yields even higher.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cIf Washington backs down, investors will face a prolonged regional conflict that could keep energy prices higher for months.\n <\/p>\n

He says the bigger issue has now moved beyond the Federal Reserve to sovereign debt.\n <\/p>\n

\u201cThe US is running huge deficits while refinancing costs are rising rapidly.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cJapan’s 30-year government bond yield rose above 4.2% for the first time on record as Tokyo prepares additional borrowing tied to wartime fiscal pressures.\n <\/p>\n
\u201cGovernments around the developed world are trying to meet massive spending commitments in an environment of structurally high inflation.\n <\/p>\n
