United States President Donald Trump has threatened to “destroy” Iran’s power plants if Tehran does not fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz within two days, as Israel launched new attacks on Tehran, with explosions reported east of the city.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Iranian retaliatory attacks on Israel and regional countries continue, with nearly 100 people injured in Iranian missile attacks on towns near an Israeli nuclear facility.<\/p>\n

“Israel has had a very difficult evening in the fight for our future,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said after the Iranian attacks on the towns of Arad and Dimona.<\/p>\n

  • Israel launched new attacks on Tehran on Sunday, following Iranian missile attacks on southern Israel, with explosions reported in the east of the city.<\/li>\n
  • After Trump threatened new attacks, Iran’s military threatened to attack all energy infrastructure linked to the US and Israel in the Middle East if its power plants were targeted.<\/li>\n
  • According to Tasnim news agency, the Iranian military announced the interception of a US-Israeli armed drone in the skies over Tehran before carrying out any combat operations.<\/li>\n
  • The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Saturday that its air defense forces shot down an Israeli fighter in Iranian airspace, the third such incident during the war. Israel did not confirm this.<\/li>\n
  • Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization said Israel and the United States targeted the country’s Natanz nuclear site in “criminal attacks” on Saturday. Tehran also informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about the attack, which confirmed no unusual radiation leakage.<\/li>\n
  • Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian called on the BRICS alliance, currently led by India, to “play an independent role in stopping aggression against Iran”. He also proposed establishing a regional security framework for West Asian countries.<\/li>\n
  • Iran’s state broadcaster said the death toll from the US-Israeli strikes now exceeds 1,500, and at least 20,984 people have been injured, with seven hospitals evacuated and 36 ambulances damaged, according to the Health Ministry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • Trump threatened to attack Iran’s energy sites in a post on Truth Social. “If Iran does not completely open the Strait of Hormuz, without any threat, within 48 hours from this exact time, the United States will attack and destroy their various power plants, starting with the largest first!” He has written.<\/li>\n
      • Trump claimed the US is “several weeks ahead of schedule” in its war on Iran and reiterated that Washington does not want to make a deal with Iran because “their leadership is gone, their navy and air force are dead, they have absolutely no defense”.<\/li>\n
      • Trump reiterated that Iran wants to “make a deal”; However, Iranian leaders have denied such earlier claims.<\/li>\n
      • Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of US Central Command, says the US military has dropped multiple 5,000-pound (2,270 kg) bombs on an underground facility along Iran’s coast that it used to store antiship cruise missiles, mobile missile launchers and other equipment, thus reducing its ability to threaten the Strait of Hormuz.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • Iranian missile attacks breached Israeli defenses in the south of the country, causing direct impacts on the cities of Dimona and Arad, injuring about 100 people. The IRGC said it targeted Israeli military installations and security centers in the cities of Arad, Dimona, Eilat, Beersheba and Kiryat Gat in its most recent missile attacks. Tehran claimed that more than 200 people were killed in the attacks; Israel reported no deaths.<\/li>\n
        • Following the Iranian attack in southern Israel, PM Netanyahu said he was “reinforcing the emergency and rescue forces currently working in the area”.<\/li>\n
        • The IAEA said it was aware of reports of a missile attack on the Israeli city of Dimona, and said there were no signs of damage to the nuclear research center in the Negev.<\/li>\n
        • Israel’s Education Ministry canceled all in-person classes nationwide for Sunday and Monday. Israel’s Home Front Command has banned gatherings of more than 50 people in the south of the country as of Tuesday.<\/li>\n
        • Israel’s military says it targeted missile launchers, air defense systems and military targets at more than 200 locations in Iran and Lebanon over the weekend.<\/li>\n
        • An Israeli military spokesman said that Israel’s air defense systems were activated during the attacks, but failed to intercept some of the missiles, even though they were not “special or unidentified”. The spokesman said the army would investigate the incidents and learn from them.<\/li>\n
