Apple is getting a new CEO later this year as Tim Cook will be replaced by John Ternes, senior VP of hardware engineering. But in addition to the news of the new CEO, the company also announced a significant restructuring. Johnny Sruzzi became the new Chief Hardware Officer and merged the Hardware Engineering and Hardware Technology teams.<\/p>\n
Almost immediately after assuming his new role, Johnny Sruzzi began a major reshuffle. For example, Kate Bergeron will delegate key product design management to two of her representatives, while she will oversee product reliability. She plays the role of Tom Marleb, who replaces John Ternes as the head of the hardware engineering team. Additionally, Bergeron will continue to oversee the development of materials used by Apple.<\/p>\n
Sruji’s restructuring is being driven by deeper integration between Apple Silicon teams and the teams involved in developing individual products. This is expected to accelerate the process of development and innovation.<\/p>\n
However, the reshuffle doesn’t stop there. Many other staff members are seeing their responsibilities broadened.<\/p>\n
Only time will tell how well the new team structure will work, but one thing is certain: Apple must act now, as product development at Apple has been very slow for the past few years. In fact, some products were announced and never saw the light of wide day, such as the AirPower.<\/p>\n
