<\/picture><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\nHowever, thankfully, that may all change with Android 17. At the Google for Developers session, the company announced that Magic Q is expanding to more third-party apps, including Snapchat.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\nThe example featured a Snapchat contact asking for the name of a restaurant recommended by a mutual friend. A prominently visible chip beneath the screen bore the name Magic Q. Just tap and send.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/picture><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\nGoogle didn’t mention which other apps would get support for Magic Q and only named Snapchat in its demo. However, it’s certainly good news for Pixel 10 users that one of its much-hyped features is about to get a lot of screen time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\nAdditionally, while Google didn’t state it explicitly, the demo also showed off a new look for the feature. The chips that appeared above the keyboard and inside the main app view are gone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\nThe new UI places Magic Q chips at the bottom of the screen with glows around the suggested information. This new placement seems better than what we had before, as it highlights the feature while it’s working, and also makes it easier to identify.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\nAdditionally, making Magic Cue suggestions pop up as an overlay outside the main app view will make the feature easier to display in third-party apps, as well as make it more distinctive.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\nThe redesign will also include an option to dismiss Magic Cue suggestions using a small “X” icon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\nThe company hasn’t said when it will launch the new feature, but we’ll probably see it go live in the stable Android 17 build. In the meantime, hopefully Google can make this feature actually useful for Pixel 10 owners rather than just a pleasant surprise.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
