Suddenly a sound like that of a strong storm came from heaven and echoed throughout the house where they were sitting. They saw that the tongues of fire separated and came to rest on each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and were given by the Spirit the ability to speak in other languages. Now in Jerusalem lived God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this word, a crowd gathered in fright, for each one heard his own language. . . Bewildered and confused, they asked one another, \u201cWhat does this mean?\u201d<br \/><strong>Acts 2:1-6,11-12<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>just believe<\/h3>\n<p>Recently, my daughters were playing with some immature flower buds from our dwarf magnolia tree. Since these buds looked like pickles, I told them they were pickle seeds. Later, I heard one of my daughters refer to the tree as a &#8220;pickle tree.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Same thing happens with children. They just believe what they are told.<\/p>\n<p>This is not always so easy for us as we grow up. We are faced with a lot of ideas about lifestyle, religion and the future (to name just a few topics). We wonder whom we should believe.<\/p>\n<p>On the day of Pentecost, people in Jerusalem could not believe their ears. Some people even made fun of the disciples who suddenly became able to speak foreign languages. Yet the Holy Spirit uses His wise words to reveal a Triune God who is serious about sin and, at the same time, full of forgiveness, love, and hope for the future.<\/p>\n<p>Why is it difficult for you to believe God&#8217;s promises? A past full of sins? A list of confusing, complex questions about life? The Bible prepares us to deal with this sinful world by revealing &#8220;the wonders of God.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Like a child, believe God&#8217;s promises\u2014Jesus loves you and has forgiven you!<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4>Prayer:<\/h4>\n<p>Holy Spirit, instill in me unwavering faith in Your promises.
