YouTube Music is highly rated in many Android Authority<\/em> Survey, both as a personal favorite music streaming service and as the best Spotify alternative. Its popularity stems from several factors: it’s bundled with YouTube Premium, works on all platforms and devices (except Amazon Echo), and lets you play official tracks as well as unofficial renditions and covers. And since it is extremely popular, its issues can plague thousands, and sometimes even millions, of users. One such issue is now coming to the fore.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\nIn the past week, we have seen numerous reports<\/a> youtube music<\/a> acting up<\/a>. These reports have spread across Reddit and YouTube Music’s support forums and, in particular, discuss the app’s inability to skip to the next track.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\nMany of these reports echo the same issue: YouTube Music not automatically skipping to the next track when a particular song plays. And to make things even more frustrating for users, tapping the Next (\u23ed) button doesn’t even do anything. And this continues for users with YouTube Premium as well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Some users, including my colleague Aamir Siddiqui, reported experiencing this when playing songs directly on YouTube Music on their iPhone. And despite most reports coming from iOS users, At least one Android user<\/a> also reported facing the same problem.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\nNeedless to say, the matter is so minor that it is inevitable that drive people crazy<\/a>. However, a temporary fix can be just as simple. Aamir says that he was able to fix the problem by simply restarting his iPhone and he did not face the problem again in the next two days. For those who may still be affected by the issue after rebooting their iPhone or iPad, there is another possible solution shared by a Reddit user iDrinkSaline<\/a>. Here are the steps:<\/p>\n

- Open YouTube Music on your iOS device.<\/li>\n
- Tap on your profile picture and then go to Settings > Playback & Restrictions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
- toggle on Stream via Wi-Fi only<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
- Terminate the app completely.<\/li>\n
- Turn off your iPhone’s Wi-Fi for a few seconds and then turn it back on.<\/li>\n
- Open YouTube Music again and then play a track.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
According to the Redditor, doing this helped them break the cycle and eventually got the app working as it should. Since a simple reboot fixed it for us, we couldn’t test it on our end.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\nNotably, YouTube Music recently had a similar issue on Wear OS, where users could not skip to the next track. Although we can’t say whether the issues on both platforms stemmed from the same root cause, Google later confirmed that it had fixed the issue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
