PESHAWAR, Pakistan (Worthy News) \u2013 A Christian teenager died on Wednesday after he and another Christian were shot dead by suspected Muslim gunmen in northwestern Pakistan, sparking fear among local believers, investigators told Worthy News.<\/p>\n
The young man, named Silas, 18, was a “resident of Father Colony in Peshawar,” the capital of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to LEAD Ministries, a Christian advocacy group.<\/p>\n
Lead ministries said he died “after suffering from serious gunshot wounds for several days” following a “fatal shooting incident” in Peshawar.<\/p>\n
Residents said that several days ago armed men opened fire on two Christian boys, seriously injuring both of them. According to Christians familiar with the situation, Silas remained hospitalized after the attack, but his condition deteriorated due to the severity of his wounds.<\/p>\n
His death “has deeply shocked the local Christian community, where believers say minorities face increasing violence, harassment and intimidation in various parts of Pakistan,” LEAD Ministries said.<\/p>\n
Fear among Pakistani Christians<\/strong><\/p>\n Residents of Father Colony described the shooting as “yet another painful reminder” of the insecurity faced by Christians in the Muslim-majority nation.<\/p>\n Leader of LEAD Ministries, Pastor Imran Amanat, condemned the killing and urged “the government and law enforcement agencies to conduct a transparent investigation, arrest those responsible and ensure justice for the victim’s family.”<\/p>\n However, bereaved community members said that “repeated attacks” on minorities are often responded to with “silence” and “inadequate response from authorities and political leaders”.<\/p>\n Pastor Amanat told Worthy News that “Christians in Pakistan are still living in fear.” He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, saying that “violence, harassment and discrimination against minorities should not be ignored”.<\/p>\n Lead Ministries asked supporters to pray for the victims and their families while continuing to document violence, persecution and persecution against Christians in Pakistan.<\/p>\n Pakistan World Watch List<\/strong><\/p>\n The organization said it “supports minority communities through church planting, women’s empowerment programs, and pastoral care initiatives.”<\/p>\n Pakistan is ranked eighth in the 2026 World Watch List published by advocacy group Open Doors International, which tracks persecution against Christians around the world.<\/p>\n Open Doors said Christians in Pakistan face “severe discrimination, violence and intimidation”, often caused by the country’s controversial blasphemy laws, “forced marriage and conversion of Christian girls, social exclusion and attacks by Islamic extremists”.<\/p>\n Church leaders and rights advocates say Christians are often among the poorest sections of society and remain vulnerable to false blasphemy accusations, mob violence and targeted attacks.<\/p>\n Community leaders in Peshawar appealed to authorities to strengthen security measures in minority areas and ensure equal protection under the law.<\/p>\n He stressed that justice for Silas and stronger safeguards for minorities are necessary to restore trust among Pakistan’s Christian community.<\/p>\n
