Vertu is on a foldable phone kick \u2013 after the Quantum Flip, the luxury brand has now launched the AlphaFold globally, its first book-style foldable. And while it has the expected premium content, this phone’s sole focus is on boosting your productivity with AI.<\/p>\n
Well, not your productivity \u2013 not unless you have $6,880 lying around. And this is the cheapest version, the Alligator Skin Gold & Diamond priced at $34,200. But we will reach leather, gold and diamonds. What’s with all this AI?<\/p>\n
Firstly, the phone has a 6.53\u201d cover display and 8.05\u201d inner display. Vertu’s justification for this is that the typical bar format fails when “reviewing complex contracts, tracking multi-system operational dashboards, or comparing balance sheets.”<\/p>\n

With two-way satellite communications, you can stay connected even outside of cell network coverage \u2013 whether it’s on your yacht or in your den or wherever.<\/p>\n The Vertu AlphaFold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite (not the new Gen 5). Additional security is handled by an A5 chip that stores sensitive credentials and cryptographic keys separately. Safeguards are also in place, for example AI cannot make financial transfers or change critical data without human approval.<\/p>\n Looking at the rest of the technical specifications, the phone runs on a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery that can last up to 28 hours even with heavy workloads. 65W charging can get the battery back up to 50% in 20 minutes.<\/p>\n There are three cameras on the back \u2013 a 50MP main (1\/1.56\u201d sensor, OIS-capable lens), a 50MP ultra-wide, and a telephoto module.<\/p>\n When it comes to the exterior you have a choice \u2013 stitched calf skin is available in two colours, crocodile skin in seven colours, a version with solid 18K gold, diamonds (brilliant cut, G colour, VS grade or higher) and crocodile skin as well as a Himalayan Alligator Gold edition. The hinge cover features a micro-engraved and hand-crafted “Clos de Paris” pattern. The hinge itself uses titanium and liquid metal, although this is not so unusual for modern foldables and neither is UTG on folding screens.<\/p>\n
