Did you know that God created you with a specific idea in mind? There is no doubt that each of us is unique. But have you ever asked yourself why?

Sometimes it is baffling to try to find out specifically why God created each of us. But, it is a wonderful, lifelong journey of self-discovery. Our gifts and talents collide with our passions, relationships, and heaven-given assignments. Once we choose God, the journey does not end there. This is just the beginning. The Bible says He has great plans for each of His children. (Jeremiah 29:11) And just as Jesus was and is, our identity is unique in Christ. (Romans 1:2)

There are many stories in the Bible where God appointed someone for a specific job. The problem with us is that many of us do not walk fully in the purpose that God has specifically created for us. We decide to take actions that keep us engaged, versus those that have a real impact on the state. We go to church on Sunday, go home and love our families, which is a big part of that purpose! But this is a “subtle” story. God also has a “macro” story in mind. What is the passion that is burning in your heart? What is it that you enjoy most that clashes with your gifts, talents, and abilities?

Churches have a purpose. Cities have a purpose. Nations have a purpose. Our purpose is connected to our community, where we live, what church we go to, and what country we live in – even what school we go to. God has a purpose for everyone on this planet, no matter what it looks like in the moment. God invites us to fulfill His purposes in our lives, so that we can become fruitful, peace-filled followers of His quest to proclaim His kingdom on earth, to bring heaven to earth. (Matthew 6:10)

Do you know your purpose? If you don’t know, I invite you to find out through prayer, reading the Word, trying new things, and perhaps using tools like spiritual resources and self-assessment to help you. We can live full, abundant lives by living our purpose. After all, isn’t this what it means to follow Christ’s example?

                    Subscribe now

What is my purpose? “But he said, I must preach the gospel of the kingdom of God to other cities also: for this purpose I was sent” -Luke 4:43 Do you know your purpose?
