A brother-sister pair were formally charged with allegedly planting an IED at a US military base that is home to the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) and Special Operations Command, the FBI confirmed on Thursday.FBI Director Kash Patel shared a Fox News article about the incident on Twitter, saying, “An IED was planted at MacDill Air Force Base \u2013 home of CENTCOM and US Special Operations Command. Now a brother and sister have been convicted. One has been detained for accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence and the primary suspect has been charged with explosives crimes and is currently in China.”He added, “The FBI, working with our partners, will continue to pursue all those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice, wherever they are.”According to the FBI, Alan Zheng, the suspect in the device attack at the Florida base, is currently in China and faces multiple charges, including attempting to destroy government property by using fire or explosives, as well as making and possessing an unregistered destructive device.Authorities have also arrested his sister Ann Marie Zheng. He has been charged with being an accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence.“Today’s indictments are the result of the tremendous investigative work of our FBI teams and the great coordination of our state, local and federal partners,” Kash Patel said in a statement to Fox News Digital.He said, “Anyone who targets our brave service members and military facilities will never go unpunished \u2013 and the FBI will pursue to the ends of the earth all those responsible for what happened at MacDill Air Force Base.”This happened after the FBI’s Tampa Field Office reported the discovery of a suspicious package outside the visitor center at MacDill Air Force Base on March 16.The installation serves as the headquarters for CENTCOM, which is overseeing Operation Epic Fury against Iran.
