Footage and photos shared online have captured lightning striking Dubai’s famous skyscraper Burj Khalifa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The dramatic scenes come as a powerful weather system brings the threat of intense storms, lightning and flooding to parts of the Middle East.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The adorable lightning clip was shared on Thursday evening, March 26. The footage shows the lightning safely diverted through the security system of the 828-metre-high building.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the rare weather will start affecting western areas late Thursday night before gradually moving inland and eastwards.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Heavy rain and stormy conditions are expected to cause further disruption across Dubai, with reports of travel disruption and delays expected.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Dubai’s skyline is still unclear amid the Middle East conflict, although lightning is a rare sight.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Since the beginning of the war, Dubai has been continuously attacked by Iranian missiles and drones, the airport is also being attacked.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The latest attack came as UAE air defenses responded to missiles and drones coming from Iran overnight on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The Gulf state’s Defense Ministry confirmed that the surges and explosions reported across the country were being caused by Emirati air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles and fighter jets intercepting drones and other aerial vehicles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Dubai’s media office issued a safety warning for residents to remain alert during the storm.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The statement posted on Twitter said: \u201cDubai will experience unstable weather conditions until the morning of Friday, March 27, 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
“Rain: of varying intensity, sometimes accompanied by lightning and thunder.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
“Wind speed: Sometimes strong, possibly raising dust and sand, which may reduce horizontal visibility.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
