“Therefore I have given you the land for which you have not labored, and the cities which you have not built; and you dwell in them and eat the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant” (Josh 24:13).<\/i><\/p>\n
In the business world we are taught to do anything to get the desired results. Competitive forces may push companies to go beyond the limits of ethics and integrity to achieve desired results. Men and women can become workaholics as the need for competitive advantage to meet sales and marketing goals is passed down to different management levels. This sweat and toil mentality contradicts God’s kingdom economy.<\/p>\n
Kingdom economy is found in the above verse of Joshua. When the people of Israel were coming out of Egypt, a place of sweat, toil, and slavery, God was trying to teach them a new economy of getting by. He wanted them to learn obedience instead of sweat and toil. Now their income will be based on their obedience and not on their skills or their sweat and hard work.<\/p>\n
This New Empire economy meant that there would be times when what you received from your efforts might be less than commensurate with the time invested. Still, there will be times when you get back more than your time invested.<\/p>\n
I used to determine whether or not I would meet a person based on my expected return on that investment. I justified that behavior by being a good manager. God says we are to determine whether He wants us to meet that person or engage in an endeavor based solely on His leadership, not the perceived outcome. It is his responsibility to bring fruits from the activity.<\/p>\n
