Russell Brand rape trial date changed and moved up by months: report<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\nThe rape trial that Russell Brand was awaiting trial has been delayed by more than four months, and will now take place in October, although it was initially scheduled to take place in June, 2026. <\/p>\n
For those unaware of the circumstances and allegations, the entire incident took place in August, 2025, leading to more than seven charges against him including rape, indecent assault and sexual harassment. However it didn’t end there as a few months later in December, London’s Metropolitan Police laid new charges against the brand in relation to two more women.<\/p>\n
According to Southwark Crown Court, Mr Justice Joel Bennathon has also joined these two charges, and has set a trial date of October 12, and this means the trial could last around two months instead of the original five weeks planned. <\/p>\n
Although no new statement has been released, last year the brand addressed the allegations directly, saying, “I will now have the opportunity to defend against these allegations in court, and I am incredibly grateful for that,” according to deadline<\/i>.<\/p>\nDetails of the allegations against Russell Brand:<\/h2>\n
In terms of details, the charges against him state that he allegedly raped a woman in a hotel room in Bournemouth, and this happened in 1999. Additionally, he is also accused of “grabbing a TV worker’s breasts” and “verbally raping her” a few years later in 2004.<\/p>\n
