Sara was now past the age of childbearing. So when some of God’s angels visited Abraham and Sarah to tell them that Sarah was going to have a child, she was listening outside the tent and burst out laughing. This idea seemed absurd to him. The angels remind him that nothing is impossible with God. “Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you next year at the appointed time and Sarah will have a son” (Gen. 18:14). According to prophecy, Sarah gave birth to Isaac.

Recently, I was considering hosting another workplace-leader summit for ministry leaders who serve people in the workplace. I had participated in such an event a year ago. My friend Gunnar Olsson, founder of Sweden’s International Christian Chamber of Commerce, attended the first event with me, so I asked if he would be interested in attending the second. He wrote me an e-mail letter informing me that there would be an international gathering of Christian workplace leaders on the island of Cyprus in March and asked if I could postpone my event and instead attend an event in Cyprus and invite other leaders. My initial reaction was laughter due to my current financial situation. In fact, I had to go to the map to see where this place was.

The next day I got a call from a man I had met only 30 days ago. We did not discuss this incident in March. “What are you doing tomorrow? I want you to go with me to the airport to pick up a missionary I want you to meet. We want to pitch an idea to you. Can you come?”

“Sure,” I said.

The next day he woke me up and told me we were picking up a missionary who was flying in from Cyprus. “We are planning to take 25 workplace believers to Cyprus for a program featuring Gunnar Olsson and we would like you to come and teach our Esau-to-Joseph workshop one day in advance. We will cover your expenses. Would you be interested in doing that?” Then, I had to laugh as I saw God’s hand working so miraculously and in such a timely manner that it assured me of His involvement in new directions in my life.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; with God all things are possible” (Mark 10:27).

When you think about the miracle that would be required for this to happen, are there things that make you laugh? Pray to God for the miracle you need today.

Is anything too difficult for God? “So Sara laughed in her heart, thinking, ‘Since I am tired and my master has grown old, will I get this pleasure now?’” – Genesis 18:12 God promised Abraham and Sarah a son who would be the descendant of an entire nation.
