(Worthy News) \u2013 The United States Embassy in Baghdad issued an urgent security alert on Thursday, warning American citizens to leave Iraq immediately due to credible threats of attacks by Iran-aligned terrorist militias within the next 24 to 48 hours.<\/p>\n

According to the embassy, \u200b\u200bintelligence indicates that Iran-linked militia groups may conduct coordinated attacks in central Baghdad targeting American citizens and locations associated with American interests. These groups have a documented history of launching attacks throughout Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region.<\/p>\n

Officials cautioned that some terrorists may attempt to disguise themselves as Iraqi government personnel, even possessing official identification, increasing the risk and complexity of the threat environment.<\/p>\n

This warning comes after the alleged kidnapping of American journalist Shelley Kittelson in Baghdad earlier this week. US and Iraqi officials have linked a suspect in the kidnapping to the Iran-backed Kata’ib Hezbollah militia.<\/p>\n

Potential targets mentioned in the alert include diplomatic facilities, businesses, energy infrastructure, hotels and transportation hubs such as airports. The embassy also stressed the increased risk of kidnappings, particularly targeting Americans.<\/p>\n

The US State Department maintained a Level 4 “do not travel” advisory for Iraq, its highest alert level, citing terrorism, armed conflict and limited ability to provide assistance to US citizens in the country.<\/p>\n

Americans still in Iraq are being urged to depart immediately, with overland routes to neighboring countries recommended due to ongoing airspace restrictions.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Donald Trump hinted that broader hostilities with Iran may be nearing an end. In remarks Wednesday evening, he said US military operations under Operation Epic Fury had achieved important objectives.<\/p>\n

“As we speak, it’s been just one month since the United States military launched Operation Epic Fury,” Trump said. “Our armed forces have won a decisive victory…Iran’s navy is gone, their air force is in ruins.”<\/p>\n

Despite those claims, the embassy warning underscores that the threat from Iran-backed militias across the region is intense and potentially growing.<\/p>\n
