Selma Blair opens up about ‘dog love’ amid debilitating battle with multiple sclerosis<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\nSelma Blair has her most loyal companion, a yellow Labrador named Scott, however, the furry friend is not completely versed in red-carpet etiquette. <\/p>\n
At last year’s Vanity Fair Oscar party, Scout was very excited when she and Selma ran into each other after being introduced to actress Laverne Cox. <\/p>\n
“He almost clawed her Mugler off,” Selma said. hello! <\/i>In a candid conversation, he added, “She was regal about it, but… got the hang of the decor, Scout!”<\/p>\n

It came after she announced on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, an incurable autoimmune condition that causes the body to attack the nerves in the brain and spinal cord.<\/p>\n
“I’m disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is blurry. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken GPS,” she wrote. <\/p>\n
Now, however, she has Scout, her five-year-old English red fox Labrador, whose presence has made events like the Tribeca Film Festival and Emmy Nominees Night in 2024 “the highlight of her life.” <\/p>\n
“I’m in a friendly profession, and they get a lot of love when I take them to events,” she says. At last year’s Vanity Fair Oscar party, Scout was the star of the show as she posed with the likes of Justin Theroux, Chrissy Teigen, and Michael Keaton.<\/p>\n
Selma revealed, “I see the joy of these acclaimed stars enjoying the dog’s love at these stressful but spectacular events. He’s my love language, and most people are disappointed when I show up without him.”<\/p>\n
Selma and Arthur, her 14-year-old son with her former partner, fashion designer Jason Blake, welcomed Scout to their family in 2021. Selma Blair recalls welcoming her beloved pet Scout into the family, saying, “I met Scout when he was just a small-headed puppy, but I didn’t take him home until he was a year and a half and he had just passed his exams and graduated.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
