I can tell you, they&#8217;re negotiating, we think in good faith, we&#8217;re going to find out. We&#8217;re getting help from some incredible countries that want to end this, because it impacts them too.&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/iran-us-receive-plan-end-hostilities-immediate-ceasefire-source-says-2026-04-06\/\">Reuters reported<\/a> The US and Iran were discussing an outline plan to end their 5-week-old conflict, as Tehran pushed back against Trump&#8217;s pressure to rapidly reopen the Strait of Hormuz, allowing traffic to resume. <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iea.org\/about\/oil-security-and-emergency-response\/strait-of-hormuz\">Vital energy artery.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Iran rejects US ceasefire proposal while presenting its 10-point plan <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2026\/04\/06\/iran-trump-peace-plan-ceasefire\">Axios<\/a>That includes a permanent end to hostilities in the region rather than a temporary ceasefire, a protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, removal of sanctions, and reconstruction. <\/p>\n<p>But according to reports, changes remained too short to reach a ceasefire agreement before the deadline. <\/p>\n<p>Trump responded to the proposal, saying &#8220;They have put forward an&#8230;important proposal. Not quite good, but they have taken a very important step. We&#8217;ll see what happens.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the deadline gets closer, they want to apply even more pressure to get them across the finish line,\u201d said Brain Jacobsen, chief economic strategist at Annex Wealth Management. <\/p>\n<p>Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is slowly resuming, with 8 tankers transiting on Monday, up from an average of less than 2 transits per day in March, according to S&#038;P Global Market Intelligence.
