Inside Savannah Guthrie’s emotional return to the ‘Today’ show after mother’s disappearance<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\nSavannah Guthrie is back Today <\/i>show as host on Monday, April 6, after being absent for two months following the kidnapping of his mother Nancy Guthrie in early February.<\/p>\n
An insider told People<\/i> The magazine reported that the 54-year-old journalist left his colleagues “surprised” on the morning of his return.<\/p>\n
“Everyone was amazed by Savannah on the show this morning. She expressed her pain with grace, strength and resolve,” the source said. “It was emotional and inspiring. Her grief is still there, but so is her resilience.”<\/p>\n
For those who don’t know, Savannah has been off the air since February 1, when it was reported that her mother Nancy had gone missing.<\/p>\n
The search for Nancy continues, but no suspect has been identified in the case.<\/p>\n
As the news program began, the NBC anchor took a moment to comment on the sunrise.<\/p>\n
“Beautiful view of the sun rising. Good morning, welcome to Monday morning. We’re so glad you started your week with us and it’s good to be home,” Savannah said on air.<\/p>\n
Craig Melvin then said, “Yeah, good to have you back home.”<\/p>\n
Savannah said, “Okay, here we go, ready or not. Let’s make the news.” <\/p>\n
