She claimed she “deserves a medal” for being with Rod Stewart for 26 years. <\/p>\n
Revealing the secret of her long-running romance, she told the magazine: “Yes, 26 years! I deserve a medal, don’t I? Just kidding.”<\/p>\n
She added, “We don’t take each other for granted and make sure we have date nights together, be it dinner, theater or something, do the school run together and have ‘a deux’ coffee on the way home, take long romantic walks together…”<\/p>\n
“We love reminiscing about our life together and planning more romantic trips in the future.”<\/p>\n
Penny also credited their longtime love for spending “time apart” to “keep the spark alive”, and they are both currently excited to reunite after three weeks apart.<\/p>\n
“We are missing each other terribly and are counting down the days,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Rod usually has a driver who picks him up from the airport but I’m meeting him because we can’t wait to see each other.”<\/p>\n
“Since the beginning of our 26 years together, we have spent time apart. For example, in the first year, I was studying photography in the UK, while he was living in the US.”<\/p>\n
“We spent hours on the phone, talking about everything, including photography and painting.”<\/p>\n
Beyond the public persona of a legendary rock icon, Lancaster offered a rare glimpse of the man behind the music. She described her husband as having a “deeply spiritual, sensitive and artistic side”.<\/p>\n
Penny said, “Rod has a deeply spiritual, sensitive and artistic side. Through it all, that’s who he is. He’s a real man.”<\/p>\n
She concluded, “He can be quite demanding and requires a lot of attention but that’s okay because I’m good at giving it.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
