Just when I thought we were officially moving out of the beauty-is-pain fashion phase, Gen Z reminded me that I’m just an aging millennial who doesn’t know anything. Right now, advocates of what’s in and what’s out are making a strong case for the return of the stiletto.<\/p>\n

This time, it’s not about fumbling with the male gaze. Instead, the resurgence is focused on a confidence-boosting power move \u2013 making wearers feel empowered to stand taller and take up more space. One TikToker captioned her shoe selfie, \u201cBecause being 6\u20193\u2033 is actually fun,\u201d while another wrote, \u201c2026 is the year I move forward and wear heels everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the ups and downs of trends, there are some brands that have consistently championed stilettos. Labels like Paris Texas \u2013 a constant favorite for Camila Morrone \u2013 and Saint Laurent have continued to feature attractively spiky heels even during peak ballet flat mania. Beyond runways and celebrity sightings, this trend is being democratized everywhere. On the other side of the spectrum, Gen Z’s obsession with all things nostalgic continues, along with a love for mall brands, especially Jessica Simpson’s heels. Yes, the “I Want Love You” singer’s eponymous line is still going strong today, and TikTok girls are obsessed with the trusty department store heels. I mean, they were some of the most comfortable pumps I owned circa 2011.<\/p>\n
