Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Wednesday accused the US of violating a two-week ceasefire agreement.<\/p>\n
“Our deep historical distrust of the United States stems from its repeated violations of all kinds of commitments \u2013 a pattern that has regrettably been repeated once again,” Ghalibaf said in a statement posted on social media. <\/p>\n
Ghalibaf said three parts of Iran’s 10-point ceasefire proposal have been violated. These violations, he said, include Israel’s continued attacks on Lebanon, the entry of a drone into Iranian airspace and the denial of the Islamic Republic’s right to enrich uranium. <\/p>\n
“In such a situation, a bilateral ceasefire or talks are inappropriate,” the parliamentary speaker said.<\/p>\n
The White House did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment. <\/p>\n
Ghalibaf’s statement came less than a day after President Donald Trump agreed to halt attacks for two weeks in exchange for Iran allowing ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz during that period. <\/p>\n
