I want to listen to songs, create playlists, and look up lyrics, but I never pick up my phone to watch videos on Spotify. If you’re like me, you’ll be happy to know that Spotify is now Starting a new feature Which lets you stop the video in its app. This goes beyond disabling looping videos while you play songs: The new feature also turns off music videos and vertical videos added by authors, returning Spotify to an audio-only platform.

How to turn off videos in Spotify

Credit: Spotify

Even if you’re on the free tier, Spotify will let you disable videos. To get started, open Spotify on your phone, and tap the Profile button in the top-left corner. Go Settings & Privacy > Content & Display And you’ll see new controls in the “Video and Canvas” section. turn off video music, canvasAnd all other videos To disable the video completely. On Spotify’s desktop apps, you can find these toggles by clicking your profile icon and going to Settings > Display. Note that the toggle to turn off Canvas (looping video during music playback) has been around for a while, but the other two settings are new. If you don’t see these options immediately, you can expect them to become available on your device in the coming weeks.

If you’re a family plan manager, you can disable video for other users on your plan as well. In Spotify’s mobile apps, tap the profile icon, select Your Premium > ManageAnd choose any profile. then go to Video and Canvas And turn off the same three toggles to disable video. Once you’ve applied these settings to one device, Spotify says they’ll sync to all other devices logged into the same account, meaning you don’t need to disable video on every device you use.

What do you think so far?
<button class="ml-1 font-semibold text-brand-green underline hover:text-brand-green-700" type="button" aria-label="Comment section trigger" onclick="window.openweb.scrollToComments('01KNS7YZYDP703YW1S6XWXJZT4')" x-text="hasComments ?
