Khamenei said the Strait of Hormuz could be under new management (Image: Getty)<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n Iran’s new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei announced in a historic announcement on Thursday that the Strait of Hormuz will be “under new management.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He further said, “The enemy will compensate for all the damage caused to us.” “We will not give up our rights in any way, and in this respect we consider the entire resistance axis as a unified one.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Iranian leader made the important statement in a written address read on state television. This follows reports that only a small number of ships have been allowed to navigate the strait since the ceasefire was announced.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Operating the vital waterway, which is widely expected to ease pressure on the oil and gas industry, was a central component of the agreement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The statement further said that Iran is waiting for an appropriate response from “our southern neighbors” \u2013 the Arab states bordering the Persian Gulf \u2013 so that Iran can “show you our brotherhood.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The leader also declared that the country remains steadfast in its desire to “avenge” his slain father, who was killed during one of the early US-Israeli strikes on February 28.
