McAvoy revealed that his agent told him that the casting director was only “interested in seeing the people in the neighborhood.”<\/p>\n
Determined to play the role, the actor decided to improvise. When asked where he was from during the audition, McAvoy, who is originally from Glasgow, Scotland, responded with a made-up place name in a forced accent. <\/p>\n
McAvoy confessed, “I don’t know where I’m from, (I’m) just making things up. And it didn’t go well.”<\/p>\n
Additionally, James McAvoy later encountered Tom Hardy in the waiting room, who gave him a knowing look, adding to the embarrassment.<\/p>\n
