In a “surprising” departure from her usual low profile, Melania Trump held a press conference to deny any personal ties to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. <\/p>\n

The move has caused a perceived rift between Lady and the president, as Donald Trump has consistently dismissed the Epstein investigation as a “hoax.”<\/p>\n

This surprising statement of Melania has given rise to many speculations about the motive behind her step. <\/p>\n

Experts and journalists are baffled by the timing, questioning why she chose to address “rumors” that have circulated for years, leading to speculation that she was “stepping in” to the new information.<\/p>\n

According to investigative journalist Vicky Ward, as reported by the BBC, “I think if Melania Trump had done this at the beginning of the Epstein crisis \u2013 a year earlier \u2013 and called on Congress to put victims on the record and listen to their stories, we would have felt quite differently about it.” <\/p>\n

Confused about the context of Melania’s comments, Ward said, “There’s really not much about Melania Trump in the Epstein files other than that one email, a friendly email to Ghislaine Maxwell. I’m amazed by that. I don’t think anyone ever believed she was a victim.”<\/p>\n

“Some White House officials were stunned by the timing of the first lady’s comments, which fueled rumors that she was trying to get ahead of something,” CNN senior White House correspondent Kristen Holmes posted, telling X.<\/p>\n

Many survivors, including the family of Virginia Roberts Giuffre, criticized the statement as a “distraction from responsibility” that places the burden of proof on victims rather than the powerful institutions that protected Epstein. <\/p>\n

Another survivor Lisa Phillips also expressed her views while talking sky News, <\/i>Stating, “We probably won’t find out for the next few days or weeks, but I’m sure there’s a reason for it.”<\/p>\n

He said, “I think everyone takes their time. I think everyone has a boiling point. A lot has happened in the last nine months.”<\/p>\n

talking to BBC Radio 4’s Today <\/i>On the program, Lisa Phillips also challenged the First Lady’s comments, “What I would do is I would call him out and, you know, I would push him a little bit and say, OK, now that you’ve said it, what can you do? What can you do to help us? And what can you do to move us along?”<\/p>\n
