Four people were shot during a street occupation in the city of Rosemead early Sunday morning, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating. <\/p>\n

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Temple Station responded to a report of a road takeover at the intersection of Del Mar and Garvey Avenues on the northwest end of the city at 1:47 a.m. Sunday. The intersection, where the vehicles were doing donuts and other stunts, is lined with eateries and small businesses. <\/p>\n

According to the Sheriff’s Department, shots were fired during the takeover and four people were hit by gunfire. It is unclear whether sheriff’s deputies were present during the shooting. <\/p>\n

All four victims were taken to local hospitals and are in stable condition. <\/p>\n

It is not clear why the shooting occurred and who was firing. Sheriff’s detectives are actively working to identify those involved and determine the events that led to the shooting. <\/p>\n

In a post on Los Angeles City Mayoral Candidate X, Spencer Pratt reposted a video<\/a> of a road takeover in which shots were fired into the middle of a car filled with passengers performing a donut demonstration. The vehicle was surrounded by a large crowd. According to the video, once the gunshots were heard, the crowd immediately dispersed or hid. <\/p>\n

It’s unclear whether the video that Pratt reposted to his account was filmed in Rosemead, but he said in the post that takeovers happen all the time in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The post read, “When I’m mayor, everyone in this video in the orange jump suit will be filling potholes, picking up trash, and polishing LA sidewalks until they’re so clean that tax-paying Angelenos can eat from them.” <\/p>\n

This shooting marks the latest takeover within Los Angeles County that has ended in injury or property damage. In March, a series of acquisitions took place in the Downtown Los Angeles, Harbor Gateway and South Los Angeles areas. The first incident prompted the Los Angeles Police Department to focus its resources on preventing and responding to these incidents.<\/p>\n

On March 10, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said that the LAPD would strategically deploy patrol cars, horse patrols, foot patrols, and undercover units in Downtown LA to respond to the takeover.<\/p>\n

The announcement came after a takeover in downtown near the Circa LA apartments, just 200 feet from the Crypto.com Arena, spilled over into the apartment lobby and ended in an assault with a deadly weapon, battery and vandalism. <\/p>\n

In a video capturing the incident, people were seen punching and pushing a man in a suit who appeared to be working at the complex. Another man wearing a black hoodie and mask was recorded using a metal barricade to break the glass of the lobby windows, while people outside shouted and filmed him. Others were caught vandalizing furniture in the building. <\/p>\n

Two weeks later, three takeovers occurred within 24 hours, with one incident resulting in a mob of people blocking a Metro bus and climbing over it, preventing it from moving forward and trapping Metro maintenance workers who were inside at the time. <\/p>\n
