The incident occurred during a standoff with a grand theft suspect. After a high-speed chase with the suspect for more than an hour, the Sheriff’s Department thwarted the deployment of the “Grappler” net system, which was intended to entangle the rear wheels of the car to slow it down.<\/p>\n
The suspect spun out of control and crashed into a wall in Jurupa Canyon. Deputies then attempted to remove the suspect from the vehicle, which included breaking windows and throwing tear gas into the car.<\/p>\n
During the standoff, CBS Los Angeles’ helicopter spotted a deputy scrolling through a woman’s dating app profile just feet away from the crashed car. It appears that he swiped left several times to view other profiles.<\/p>\n
