The two become friends, and Clark introduces Floyd to a dating app for married people looking for side action. They both sign up, but within a few weeks, Floyd is found dead, and the police investigate it as a murder (no spoilers: this all happens within the first act of the first episode). When a body washes up on the beach, Dulcie is joined by Madeleine Sami’s Eddie Radcliffe, a typically obnoxious detective brought in to help solve the case. Unraveling the web of secrets in the small Tasmanian town is addictive, and as an added bonus, police thriller tropes are ruthlessly mocked. A new season is coming soon. Somehow this unrealistic, genre-defying caper broke an HBO Max record, and deservedly so. Robinson plays Ron Trosper, a middle manager in charge of the construction of a new shopping mall. A falling chair during a public presentation sends Ron on a quest to uncover a larger conspiracy – he’s convinced the broken chair is the first rung on the ladder of sabotage. The show sends us on a very strange, sometimes frightening, trip down the rabbit hole with him, which still, feels like a reflection of a modern American work culture that is no less crazy than the plot of Ron’s Chairs. Ferrell and Rudd play against type, leaning into the show’s central mystery: How does a reasonable person give someone so much control over their existence? This is by no means serious, as the show also recognizes that there is a great deal of absurdity in the relationship between the two. He is soon joined by Dublin-born journalist Dove Maloney (Siobhan Cullen), who was living in London, and aspiring journalist Amy Sizergh (Robyn Cara). Pa is a bad guy who is harassing his parishioners through a shady rehab center. Paul figures he can get James to infiltrate the center and rob the suspicious priest, while an equally crooked local sheriff (Luis Guzman) keeps Pa out of the way. It’s a juicy and addictive neo-noir thriller, with wonderfully stylized dialogue you’ll recognize dtf<\/em>. The first great choice is in its casting: Olivia Colman and David Thewlis play Susan and Christopher Edwards, a mild-mannered couple who are revealed to have murdered Susan’s parents and buried them in the back garden while still sending their parents Christmas cards for the “holidays.” The show cleverly doesn’t try too hard to understand the motives, but instead questions our need to understand people like Susan and Edward. Keke Palmer’s Samira and Jack Whitehall’s Rob move back to their impossibly safe and clean hometown, their new house across the street from a dilapidated Victorian look that may or may not have been the site of a murder a few decades ago \u2013 of a girl who just wanted out. As Sameera adjusts to new motherhood as well as life in prison, she discovers that even her best neighbors (played by Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Prokash and Kapil Talwalkar) have secrets, and she suspects that her husband knows more about the missing girl than he is letting on. Stream ‘burbs<\/em><\/u> on peacock<\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini (also included dtf<\/em>) Make one of the greatest TV couples of all time in this dark, twisty comedy about some women who become united in tragedy and lies. Applegate is Jane Harding, a realtor whose husband was killed in a hit-and-run incident; She is not behaving very well, and takes a little inspiration from Cardellini’s Judy, who has maintained a cheerful disposition after her fianc\u00e9 Steve’s death from a heart attack \u2013 easy to do since Steve is still secretly alive. And then we learn that Judy has a storage unit that contains a car that looks suspiciously like the car that killed Jane’s husband. This is all part of the first episode, and the show gets even wilder from there. Three high school friends from Belfast reunite after learning that their fourth bestie has died unexpectedly – except maybe she didn’t die, which is a mixed blessing considering they all have secrets they were hoping to bury. Now they’ve set out to investigate a murder mystery, and quickly find themselves in over their heads (way in the way). The tone is all over the place in a way that somehow really works.
